A social media comment about the judge’s daughter cost the former President a fine of about 8000 euros, for violating the ban on making statements about witnesses.
Donald Trump was fined on Tuesday about 8000 euros ($9,000) for violating the ban on making comments about witnesses in the case related to the payment to porn actress Stormy Daniels, The Guardian reported.
The former U.S. President was under a gag order imposed by the court prohibiting him from making public statements, or asking others to do so, about the role of witnesses in the investigation and trial, as well as about prosecutors other than Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The order also covered members of Alvin Bragg’s team and the court.
Although, before the trial, Manhattan judge Juan Merchan had included in the order the family of prosecutor Bragg and his own family, Trump published a post on social media about Merchan’s daughter. In the post, Trump criticized the judge’s daughter for having a company that managed digital campaigns for Democratic candidates.
